Step Up Instruments
As students advance in their performing abilities, they often outgrow their beginning level instruments and/or mouthpieces. When this happens, the student’s continued musical growth can be negatively affected by an inferior instrument. Upgrading to a semi-professional or professional quality instrument can be a very good investment for continued success. Always contact a director or your child’s Private Instructor prior to purchasing any instrument for your child! Students chosen to participate in the Wind Ensemble are highly encouraged to purchase a step up instrument. Beginning band instruments will not be adequate to keep up with the musical demands.
The following step-up instruments are approved for use in the Schimelpfenig Middle School Band and all of the high school programs in the Plano ISD:
There are often quality used professional level instruments for sale as well. Please ask your student’s private teacher or a band director if you are interested in finding out more information. We can help!
