I hope that you have all enjoyed our first concerts! Whether they are just starting out in the sixth grade beginner band or are a continuing member of one of our three advanced performing bands, Mr. Altom and I strive daily to challenge and advance their musical skills. There is a wide body of research and advocacy available regarding the value of a strong music education to the overall development of your child's education. It is my desire to share some of this research with you throughout the year in order for you to better help your child make thoughtful future decisions regarding continued involvement in this valuable activity.
As someone who's entire life has been deeply involved with the musical arts, I want to share my thoughts with all of you about the value of learning and performing music to one's overall preparation for a vibrant member of future society. Please look for monthly advocacy emails from me titled, FROM THE DIRECTOR'S PODIUM. I hope you will take a few minutes to educate yourself about each topic. This first article, Wholehearted Attention by Walter Bitner also contains extra links for those interested in the topic. https://walterbitner.com/2015/06/12/wholehearted-attention/ If you ever have questions regarding an article, please feel free to contact me for further discussion. We very much enjoy working with your children!
