Instrument Insurance

Musical instrument insurance is recommended, but not required, for students in the SMS Band.

Contact your current homeowner's or renter's insurance carrier to inquire about coverage. It is important when doing this to consider deductible amounts and limits of coverage. An additional rider is sometime needed to adequately cover an instrument.

When contacting an instrument provider, it is important to have basic information about your instrument, including:
  • Make
  • Model
  • Serial Number
  • Replacement Value

This information should be available on your rental contract or purchase receipt from the music store. If you are using a school-owned instrument, you can go to "Assigned Inventory" on your child's CHARMS page and print a copy of the usage agreement, which contains the information above.
